Design a New Product for Commuters Who Travel 1–2 Hours Daily
Step 1: Clarify the Problem
Interviewer:
Could you provide more details about the target audience?
- Are we focusing on a specific mode of transport (e.g., buses, trains, or cars)?
- What is the goal — entertainment, productivity, health, or something else?
Assumptions:
- The product is mode-agnostic, targeting commuters across various transportation types.
- The goal is to enhance the commuting experience, focusing on reducing stress and making the time more productive or enjoyable.
Step 2: Understand User Pain Points
Commuting challenges often include:
- Boredom or lack of engagement during the commute.
- Unproductive use of time (scrolling social media without purpose).
- Stress due to delays or overcrowding.
- Health concerns, such as prolonged sitting or lack of physical activity.
- Lack of access to reliable information, such as live traffic or transit updates.
Step 3: Define the Product Objective
The goal is to design a digital product that enhances the commuter experience by addressing one or more of these pain points.
